As a matter of fact, his first big hit, Fingertips, was in C (though
somewhere in the article it was misidentified as D). True, he used all
the blue notes, allowing for both slide jabs (jabbing into a slide-in
note) and reverse jabs (releasing the slide into a slide-out note). But
even if he used the pure major scale, he could use jabs between B and C
and E and between E and F. But even if he used no jabs at all, he'd
sound like Stevie.
Non-harmonica playing musicians have marvelled at how easy Stevie makes
everything look; they attribute it to relentless practice.
