Jams are reflection of whoever is the host.
Some hosts can't say no to anyone and want to be a good guy, so sometimes you end up with ridiculous number of people on stage.
I enjoy a responsible jam where host has a good grasp on the evening and good sensibility for making something good happen. He won't be afraid to close the list and say no to people.
