Re: [Harp-L] Harmonica Pierre...

Hi,
On the other hand, whether the harmonica community wants to admit it or not, the average person is more used to seeing really lousy players than truly good ones by probably a 10 to 1 margin and also lets' not forget Piers Morgan's comments along with Sharon Osbourne's, and as Richard's quote of Piers' comments is a lot more common than you think. Truth be told, the average audience will go totally bonkers over a very mediocre guitarist and think of them as some sort of a God 10,000 times before they even consider a harmonica player as being great at anything simply because they tend to see a lot more really awful players than good ones.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too.

The question the first judge asked--"is harmonica big enough to win this show? Does it wow you enough?"--was a good question. You could ask it of any instrument; it's the player, not the instrument, that makes the instrument riveting.

Pierre played well, but the second judge's comment that "aside form Larry Adler, you're the best technical harmonica player I've ever seen," wasn't a very informed one. If you go to SPAH in any given year, you see a lot of players at or above that level of technical expertise.
