Subject: [Harp-L] about the free Blowoff Shuttle Bus in MN....
I'm set for SPAH.
Just some thoughts in re the Shuttle Bus...
Not everyone who's going (and hope to attend the Blow-off) posts or reads
here - will see your inquiry, Warren. So you might not want to base it
entirely on harp-l responses.
If you do want to base it on past SRO attendances at Jason's Blow-offs, the
bigger Bus might be the best way to go since you'll find tons of people
with no other way to get there standing around the Lobby looking helpless
that night. Last year 3 - 4 of us were still calling cabs and getting together
to ride share at the very last second...and one was a performer.
The bigger issue might be in returning to the Hotel. Many people are tired
from the traveling and don't want to stay until the bitter end - so will
have no other way to get back unless you plan to have the Bus make more than
one return trips throughout the evening.
IF it's only one trip back - you might wish to spell that out ahead of
time, find out what the general cab rates could be ...have some phone numbers
handy for those who wish to avail themselves. I've routinely gotten numbers
from whichever cab takes me to the Hotel from the Airport - and have that
driver come back for me if I'm not being driven by a friend.
I also usually arrive with MapQuests to and from the venues to be left at
the front desk for those wishing to drive or take cabs and have no problems
doing so, but there are people who find this all too nerve-wracking in a
strange City.
IF you have a very large can't miss sign in the Lobby about the Bus as
people check into the Hotel (a lot will probably be arriving shortly before)
- and the exact time people need to meet at the Bus to get to the blow-off
you might find your Bus SRO as well. The easier it is to get to, the more
likely it is people will attend, of course.
Lastly -- people should be aware that most clubs have a 'capacity' which is
usually reached very early and as the attendance fluctuates during the
evening/night - if you're a night owl it's sometimes just as much fun to get
there later, depending on who's on your 'can't miss' list.
