[Harp-L] Charlie Musselwhite show last night

Hello all,
There's a blues festival going on in my city, I went last night and caught Charlies' set. He was the headliner, and Room full Of Blues played a set right before him. I haven't had the opportunity to see Charlie live in a few years. Seemed like every time he was close I had a gig, or something else going on that kept me from going to his show. There was a post on Harp-L a while ago, that someone felt that Charlies playing was losing some of it's "fire". I can't remember the exact words of the post, so please forgive me if I am misrepresenting someones' opinion. I have to say, in my opinion, Charlie hasn't lost any of his intensity. He played a killer set last night. Once the sound man pulled his head out of the dark, unsanitary place it was in, and brought Charlies' harp up in the mix where it belonged, it was an incredible set. Charlie had a great band backing him, and he played some of the best harp I have ever heard. His playing was laid back when the song called for it, and full of intensity when that was needed. Incredible phrasing, and timing. It was a true inspiration for a weekend hacker like myself. My only disappointment was that he was playing through a Bassman, with a Kinder pedal. I would liked to have heard him play through The Cruncher, or The Avenger live. Don't get me wrong, his tone through the rig he was playing was to die for. I know the Bassman is the amp of choice for a lot of harpers, and it sounded great, but I wanted to hear one of these other amps I mentioned live. Oh well maybe next time. He also mentioned on stage that he was touring with Cindy Lauper. He said that he was" really enjoying the tour with Cindy", and that Cindy "could really sing the blues". Well I just wanted to give my opinion of a a great show last night, take it for what it's worth.
