Re: [Harp-L] Cajun Harp? - Jane Gillman

On that specific cut it's a tremolo instrument, played with single notes. However, it sounds more like an accordion than a harmonica. The liner notes don't seem to be online, so it's hard to say conclusively.

Check out Jane Gillman. She's been playing cajun harp for a while now.
Sounds like she uses that double tongue-blocking technique--playing out of
both sides of the mouth for octaves and such, and lifting her tongue off and
on for rhythm. I believe she uses a octave-tuned harmonica for a lot of her
playing.

Go to the bottom of the page and click on the sample for

"Personne Ne Two-Step Comme Toi"

It's track 7 on the *Pick It Up *album.
