Re: [Harp-L] Sonnyjr and his amps
They remind me of big diesel trains, even at low volumes they sound
powerful. I'm experimenting with mine to find and identify the different
combinations of inputs, tubes and mics to see what sounds I can get for
different situations and if you throw in low volume situations that
makes even more combos to explore. The manual says that for lower
volumes you can put in a 12AY7 to lower the output and keep the warm
sound.. The channel bridging option seems to my ears to be the most
Chicago type sound with my C/R mic but I haven't used that option yet. I
just got the amp for Christmas and I have been working on bring my game
to the table. Gary (Sonny Jr) is right when he says that your playing
ability is an essential part, The first time I played it in a jam
situation my lack of diaphramic breathing was so plainly obvious. So for
your question on low volume I think Gary (Sonny Jr) can give a better
answer than me.

Hi Gary,
Many of the reviews talk about the attainable volume of the Cruncher
but I am curious about how it sounds at low volume. Do you have to
push it to get an overdriven tone or can it be set for good Chicago
style tone at practice volume levels?
Considering one for myself.
Cheers.
