[Harp-L] Jazz chromatic books

My jazz education did not come from books for the most part.
It came from private teachers.
First spend at least three years commuting from Philly to New York every two
weeks to study with Robert Bonfiglio.
Study with some jazz greats if you can find them.
My two main teachers were Curt Harmon and Larry McKenna.http://www.emusic.com/album/10585/10585910.html
Curt's grandson was is in Pieces of a Dream.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iRX1AQ35hk

Curt senior looked like Roland Hanna.
He played vibes and piano and was an arranger.

Try to get into a Jazz Program Like the one at Temple Universty's Ester Boyer College of
Music.

After all of this I barely think I'm a jazz player.

Two books I have used in the past Rhythms complete by Buggs Bower for reading
and the Jamie Ambersol series. I use volume 21 to keep my improv chops up.
It's also a fun way to practice scales and arpeggios.

Good luck one and all in your jazz studies.

P.S. get a Real Book
