Not my experience either. Then again, I've spent a lot of time approaching the harmonica in a non-harmonicky way.

Perhaps some of the problem may be that when the harmonica is played too harmonicky (always bending up to the 4 or 6 hole inhale, for example), it always reminds people of the blues harmonica sound, even if the music is non-blues.

Lately, I've had opportunities to play with a trad jazz and a gypsy jazz outfit, and both bands told me that they thought what I was doing sounded really good even though it didn't sound like blues.?
