When replying to a digest it is imperative that you edit the text to
include ONLY the part of the digest you are commenting on. If you just
reply and quote an entire digest our server sets the post aside. I can
override the exclusion but I cannot edit the post. It's a dilemma. I
currently have 5 held posts, all quoted digests that will never see the
light of day. All 5 of these posts have something useful a thought or
comment, what have you. What happens if I go ahead and override the hold
is the quoted digests cause another digest to be generated because the
posts are the same size as a digest. What you'll see is an entire quoted
digest with a smallish comment appended.
I in no way want to exclude a legitimate comment, thought or post from
appearing on harp-l. The 5 held posts have accumulated over this past
year. I always write the person who posted letting them know, hey your
post did not make it to harp-l just edit the post and resend it and it
will appear normally. Pretty much nobody ever replies and few ever edit
and repost. I get it, an off hand comment, it's not worth the trouble to
edit and repost.
Not a lot of posts currently. I hate seeing legitimate posts being set
aside for exceeding the posting size limit.
As an aside harp-l quietly reached the 32 year mark this past October the
6th, that's a good long while. In the meantime enjoy the solstice, I for
one welcome the return of the light. You folks south of the equator will
get your turn in 6 months. harp-l-listowner and yes, I am a dork
