Thank you all for the fwwdback and information on the CX12 Jazz. I
appreciate the pros and cons on it, although the consensus is that the only
difference between the original CX12 and the Jazz is its cover.

Hi Walter -

I don't own the Jazz model, but what I've been told by people who should
know is that the only difference between the models is the cover.

The problems you're seeing might have more to do with the level of quality
control than it does the model. In my experience with many, many CX12s over
the years I some play better out of the box than others.

Hope this helps....

- Slim

Hi Roger,

interested to hear that you find the CX-12 Jazz sounds brighter than your
original model. To the best of my knowledge, the only difference is that the
mouthpiece on the Jazz is narrower. Personally I haven?t noticed a
difference in sound, the construction is exactly the same. The unique design
is by Gerd Knoppek, who I believe used to work as a designer for BMW before
he came to Hohner.

The form of the CX 12 Jazz mouthpiece is much closer to the original design
agreed on by our panel of experts when we developed this model around 1991.
Hohner subsequently decided to make it thicker, so I was really glad when
they brought out the Jazz version as I personally find it much more
comfortable to play.

Wow thanks for your feedback. I guess sound is subjective. I also play
saxophone and tried many mouthpieces. At least with sax?mouthpieces I found
the shape of the mouthpiece determined the sound that I can produce.?
I hope you still continue to make the standard CX 12. I really love the
sound and feel of it ?Are you ever going to bring back the different colors
for the shell? I looked all over eBay trying to find other colors to no
avail. I have a white for many years and also the black ones?but would love
other colors. Thank you for responding to my post.?

Hi Roger,

as far as I can see, the only other shell color is gold, the CX 12 Gold is
offered as an individual model. I couldn?t find the shell as a spare part,
but presumably they will have them in stock. I guess it will have been too
many expensive items which only sell in small quantities,

Thanks for looking into it for me. I am guessing that the CX 12 is not a
popular seller. Too bad I hope they keep making them. I really like playing
the ones I have.?Roger?
