Family comes first and my youngest niece is getting married that week so
unfortunately I will not be able to attend the SPAH convention in Tulsa
to display the Harmonicaster electric harmonica.
Prof. John Shirley of the University of Massachusetts, however, will be
giving a seminar on new harmonica technology that will include the
Harmonicaster along with the TurboHarp ELX and the new DM48 midi device.
Professor Shirley has also graciously offered to demonstrate the
Harmonicaster to anyone attending the convention who might be
interested. He'll also have a spare Harmonicaster available for those
who want to try it out, with a variety of color coded Key Cassettes. I
want to point out that Prof. Shirley is not being compensated in any way
for doing so, not even a free Harmonicaster. As a matter of fact, he
hasn't played it yet since I just shipped out the production spec demo
unit he'll use. I don't know if he'll like it or if he'll hate it, but
if he likes it, you can be sure that it's an impartial judgment, not a
paid endorsement.
As for getting one of your own Harmonicasters, production of the first
50 Harmonicasters has started with Serial Number 001 made as a special
edition in red, white, and blue. The first production Harmonicaster will
be auctioned off on eBay with proceeds in excess of MSRP going to three
music related charities, the Music Link Foundation, Charity Music, and
Guitars For Vets.
The rest of the first fifty will be available at our IndieGoGo campaign
page. A lot of people that know a lot more than I do think the
Harmonicaster will be a big thing and quite possibly spread interest in
harmonicas beyond the current musical genres where it is popular. You
can't go back in time to buy one of his first electric guitars from Leo
Fender, but you can own one of the first practical electric harmonicas.
Serial #s 2-15 are being made in the standard colors of black and silver
and one in each of our 12 custom colors.
Once our IndieGoGo campaign wraps up, we'll be selling the Harmonicaster
at Harmonicaster.com ( http://www.harmonicaster.com ). The site is up
and you can get a lot of info about the Harmonicaster and watch videos
there now, but our eShop won't be live until the IndieGoGo campaign ends.
That campaign, as well as the charity auction of #001, will launch
August 15, 2017, simultaneously with the SPAH convention in Tulsa.
The Harmonicaster is "Made in The Motor City", assembled from U.S. and
imported parts in the Detroit area.
