My personal "light box" is a small LED flashlight in the shape of a rectangle (sort of). It has 24 LEDs in a trapezoidal shape (about 1" X 1.5" on the ends and about 2" long with a flat surface). My wife got it for me from Tractor Supply Company. It's extremely bright and works quite well for examining reeds in slots. The work surface is large enough to balance the reed plate across it.
