I'll be rolling into SPAH Thursday after four days of hiking in the
Rockies. Like I told my buddy Fred from our list; if I'm not at a SPAH
convention, it means I probably died during the year.

Jason Rogers writes.... "I'll be there. Anybody know Denver? Any idea
what it takes to travel from
the hotel to the Blues Blowoff on Tuesday?"

Jason, it's 9 to 11 miles depending on the route you take. Shared Taxi's
or Uber seem the best bet. Plenty of free parking at the venue, but if
you
plan on imbibing I recommend leaving your car at the hotel, wouldn't want
anyone spending SPAH in the pokey.

There are advance tickets this year, they have been on sale since early
July and are almost all gone. I strongly recommend you buy now if you
plan
on attending.

The name of the event is now the International Blues Blowoff, this was
detailed in a previous post on harp-l. The official web page for the IBB
is
www. harmonicaplanet/blues-blowoff You'll find details such as address,
ticketing info, lineup and more.

Tues, Aug 11 - Doors at 6, music starts around 7

Directions from the Crowne Plaza Hotel: Get on I-70 west, immediately
get
in the left lanes which funnels you onto I-225. Exit I-225 at Alameda
Ave
and go west (right turn). Take Alameda to Quebec St, go north (right
turn) on Quebec a few blocks to 1st Ave. Go east (right turn) one block
and The
Soiled Dove will be on your left, it is underneath a place called The
Tavern, separate entry down a flight of stairs.

Will post again later with something more relevant in the subject line.

Hi,à There is a riff à I want to learn and since I need tabs à before i
memorize, is it possible for me to send a link to a you tube video where the
riff is and maybe someone more musically inclined than me can tab it out?

years and it looks like this year's will be stellar! I'll be back in 2016 with
a harp vengeance! Have a blast and I miss you all!

Wow! Check out this video of the Great Dane Jacob VenndtÃââ tearing out
all the stops and pushing all the sliders on the new DoubleChrom (Double
Chromatic Harmonica).

Jacob is a musical phenomenon, a player of over 20 instruments to a
professional level. Highly schooled in both jazz and classical music, he has the
musical intelligence to relish the myriad new possibilities the DoubleChrom
offers.

He does some VERY clever beatbox-harp at the end too. IÃââve never heard
harp-boxing on the chromatic before, made me laugh out loud :-)

https://youtu.be/Tc_yvZRERwY

ItÃââs an honour to have a great musician such as Jacob take such obvious
pleasure in exploring the DoubleChrom. Makes me feel all the struggle to
create it was worthwhile J

Greetings to all:

I will be at SPAH this year. Very excited as its my first time and I hope
to meet some of you there in person.

I will be bringing with me a early prototype, Richard Sleigh- light box
that I am offering for sale.
I have recently built a new one based on Richard's more recent designs.
The original prototype still works great and has option for additional
modifications for those so inclined. I have used it as my embossing station
for several months with good results.

If you are interested in the light box and will attending at the SPAH
conference, please contact me off list for pricing and to hold in reserve. I
have more info and pictures available upon request.

The design is very similar to this version:
