Re: [Harp-L] The Low Rider rides again

Yes, the windsavers are different too. 2 layer configuration. They seem more durable then the teflon one’s which can be easily damaged.

The covers are copper in color and polished to a mirror finish. The mouthpiece is rounded and comfortable. The slide is quiet.

No lazy ass plating to cover up mill marks on any of the slide assembly. All polished metal.
The second slide is mould ejected and made of polypropylene so there can’t be any bur marks to damage it or slow it’s action.
Super airtight design.

The odd thing about this harp is you hear only the sound of the reed. No air leaks before or during the reed responding. No distracting slide noise.
I know a lot of the jazz guys like the sound of the 270 but hate the problems with wood combs. The Suzuki’s as nice as they are are a different sound from the Hohner’s.
This has that “Hohner Sound” which I think is a compliment to Tombo and Lee.

It paid off for Lee to wait to introduce a chromatic to the North American market. I can see this competing with the mid priced chromatics from Hohner, Suzuki and Seydel.

I have no idea of the list price. I’ll find out from Lee when he contacts me.

This chromatic should appeal to those that like the sound of the Hohner 270 and the ergonomic and smooth action of the Suzuki Sirius and G48. The covers are comparable to the design of the Meisterklasse while the mouthpiece is like the Suzuki models. After that there is no similarity to those brands. The new model is called M mu-01.
>> What sets this apart from other brands is the unique slide assembly. It has 2 slides. When you push the slide button in to the left it engages a lever that pushes a second slide to the right. Even though the harmonica is cross tuned the unique slide makes it faster then any straight tuned chromatic. It has a tone similar to the classic 270 while housed in a plastic comb. The only difference is all the sound goes to the reed. There is no noise from air escaping while the reed sounds. From what Lee told me today there may be an option to control the slide from the back of the chromatic (ie CBH) by adding an extension to the slide lever. I wrote a long review but some things need to be clarified by Lee. It's totally unique inside so I don't want to misidentify anything or it's function. He will contact me after the show. The chromatic is scheduled for release at the end of July. I'll post a full review before the release date. It plays beautiful. I know the jazz player!
