[Harp-L] The Low Rider rides again

A new chromatic is being introduced tomorrow at musikmesse 2015. It is being marketed by Tombo and Lee Oskar. I had a chance to preview the harmonica last March for a week. This chromatic should appeal to those that like the sound of the Hohner 270 and the ergonomic and smooth action of the Suzuki Sirius and G48. The covers are comparable to the design of the Meisterklasse while the mouthpiece is like the Suzuki models. After that there is no similarity to those brands. The new model is called M mu-01.
What sets this apart from other brands is the unique slide assembly. It has 2 slides. When you push the slide button in to the left it engages a lever that pushes a second slide to the right. Even though the harmonica is cross tuned the unique slide makes it faster then any straight tuned chromatic. It has a tone similar to the classic 270 while housed in a plastic comb. The only difference is all the sound goes to the reed. There is no noise from air escaping while the reed sounds. From what Lee told me today there may be an option to control the slide from the back of the chromatic (ie CBH) by adding an extension to the slide lever. I wrote a long review but some things need to be clarified by Lee. It's totally unique inside so I don't want to misidentify anything or it's function. He will contact me after the show. The chromatic is scheduled for release at the end of July. I'll post a full review before the release date. It plays beautiful. I know the jazz players will like it.
