on pianos, octave stretching is an art...you are not supposed to notice beatings on octaves, but one pushes the boundaries a little as one goes up to the high end.

octave stretching ist done explicitly to make octaves noticible, and
it's done on many instruments including pianos and of course
harmonicas. 1 cent per octave is a common value.
