If you google "all fourths tuning" you will find that players are
interested in the tuning and using it exclusively. One well known player
that uses the an all-fourths tuning almost exclusively is Stanley Jordan.

Inertia is what perpetuates various tunings. People use the tuning because
they are usually beginners to music and are following those that went
before them (their teachers or the kid next door). But there is no need to
follow. In fact it can be said that new art is about not following.
