I second that emotion! Like Jerry, in the first few years out from the surgery I had one infection per year. Knock on wood, I've gone the last few winters with no infections at all. I think the surgery improved my tone and it also helped my signing--it's less nasaly now. I had my septum straightened, the holes bored open, and lots of scar tissue removed. Be forewarned, the first week after the surgery is hell. The pain wasn't bad but both sides of my nose were packed with about a 1000 feet of gauze each. Mouth breathing and sleeping didn't mix well for me. On a comical note, you should have been there the day I pulled out the packing. It was like one of those magical tricks, the gauze just coming, and coming, and coming. It's amazing how much fits up there. Good luck!!!
