Re: [Harp-L] Charlie Musselwhite
Venky,
You missed the point, but I hear what you are saying.
My reference was regarding a few similarities as posted originally'
btw, Miles had nothing but respect for his band members. His rude, arrogant side was not the real Miles (as is evident by interviews with those that worked with him and in his life - granted, there were a few women that he didn't treat too well), but were more a protective shield to mask his innate shyness from the public in general and impatience with stupid people.

I don't think there is a harmonica player that has the stretch akin to Miles. What Miles did on the trumpet and Jazz music cannot be compared. Miles is Miles and Charlie is Charlie. To assume the appellative is like saying that Charlie is rude, arrogant, never practices, foul mouthed and shows no respect for his band members- now all of those attributes become synonymous with the personality.

Not a bad comparison, Iceman, though obviously
Charlie's is a more modest gift. Still, Charlie,
like Miles, has always gone his own way.
I think it's silly to say who is the "best" of
contemporary blues harpists, but for me
Charlie Musselwhite is as original and creative
a blues harpist as there is right now. We're
fortunate to have him.
