I was, of course, joking, lol.

I thought it was a 'Bari' sax.

My affinity for doo-wop started when I came back from Paris in 1959 for my senior year in Pittsburgh (my actual home town).. I was a govt. brat and every 2 years we would get posted to Vienna, then we would be back in N.Y.City, then back to Trieste, then N.Y., then Naples, then N.Y., then Paris, etc. etc. Every time we came back to the U.S. the music had changed. In the late 40s, it was still swing, then it was hit parade pop, then rock & roll, then doo-wop.
It was my senior year when I was in a doo-wop group and sharping and then placing a wind saver on the #5 diatonics to play this stuff. I was already playing chromatic for several years. It really wasn't until I was out of the navy in 64 that I began sitting in with jazz groups in Pittsburgh. I play other instruments.
To this day, my car (Tippie) only plays the old music. But I don't think I'm as passionate about it as your Fred.
As for country, I only played the 'old' country back when I was with 'stony brooks', and stationed in the Pa. mountain country. That's what the gigs were there.

I always liked the harmonious nature of doo-wop. That's when music reached you. I once heard or read that your affinity for music takes hold in your formative years. These being ages 16-25 (for me). That would put me around 1958-1967. But I also like trad jass (dixieland), and ANY musics. As long as they are well executed.

I have quite a large collection of playalongs so far for jazz, standards, country and rock.
