Re: [Harp-L] low tuned harps for Rice Miller

That makes it sound as though Rice Miller stayed away from high-pitched harps, which of course he didn't. He frequently used D, E, and high F harmonicas on many of his tunes (Nine Below Zero, Temperature 110). But then he used a G harp for tunes like Your Funeral and My Trial, and then dived down to the low C for Bye, Bye, Bird.

He's one of the few older generation blues guys who seems to have used - and sounded great on - the full available gamut of pitch ranges (for his time), from Low C to High F.

I heard a SBII song last night in a club in the key of B (on an E harp) and it sounded a bit high pitched to me. But then anything can be played in any key -- when the blues police are not around. Even Rice Miller stuff.
