I'm curious about this, too, and searched the terms HARP and TILT in the
archives to read some messages about it.

Except for a few x-ray/sonogram images, we can't see inside the mouth and
throat while playing, so we rely on how it feels when describing it. We
associate results with a change we've made. (When I do THIS, I hear THAT)
We may assume that a change in tilt is the cause, when there may be several
other subtle differences, unnoticed, that are active, at the same time.
When teaching and coaching, I am willing to say "I don't know how/why it
works."
When a student makes a successful discovery (like blow bends) I ask them to
describe what they felt, and how they would teach it to another.
