I encourage all to try embossing.
I played harp for years and resisted learning it, because I didn't know how
much better the response would be! It's a joy to play!
My learning steps were:
1. gapping
2. fine [corrective] tuning
3. embossing, arcing
4. gross re-tuning with solder
Take your time. Learn to feel the pressure of your tool on the metal. Be
willing to toast a harp while practicing. If you over-emboss a little, you
can "take it back" with a gentle file.
If you don't enjoy the time invested, buy from a customizer. I think it's
worth learning!
