Sure, Daniel... try using a metronome to represent (in 4/4 time) 2 and 4.
It's your non-existent drummer's high hat....if it's difficult at first, then that's a great method.... If it's really easy, keep doing it, it still helps. You could also try NOT beating your foot....making the beat, tempo, be inside you...After purposely NOT physically giving a beat, like with your foot, it might become internalized and then you'll BE the groove, instead of using the groove... that's a hard concept to describe, sorry.
This is much better than the alternate method of at least appearing to be in a groove, which includes spending time in front of a mirror, perfecting the appearance of Hip..... turning red, moving all around, sweating profusely...
Both methods seem to work. The second is easier.The first, for some, may be more musically rewarding.
