[Harp-L] Re: EH POG2

Hi Mike,
I purchased one about 3 years ago. Haven't used it much though. One thing I will add is if you plan on playing it through an amp be careful of your settings especially if you have a vintage amp with old paper speakers. I blew out the speaker on my Deluxe Reverb the first gig I used the POG 2 on and I only used it on one song with a B3 type setting. I have since purchased a 50 watt Weber speaker made especially for the '65 DR when using pedals. . A year later I sold the DR but kept the speaker. I'm afraid to use it as an organ with my tweed amps and prefer to just add a touch of effect underneath the sound of the harp rather then completely alter the tone.

You can go from deep cathedral organ to B3 to Trombone and flute to even a Steel drum sound. In order to make the effect sound authentic you shouldn't just create the tone but also the attack of the notes used by players of those instruments. I've been able to create all those sounds.

Try settings that make it sound like another instrument but also sound like a second instrument is playing under your harp. It's easily done when setting how much of the effect you want in the mix. The main effect I use now is a slight flute sound under the harp to sound like 2 instruments are playing in unison. I play that on the song I originally used the B3 sound on. Coming Home Baby.

I've just bought a used POG2 on a whim. Has anyone had any experience using
one of these things for harp? It's got 1 and 2 octaves up and 1 and 2
octaves down, plus various other controls. The possibilities seem to be
endless. I'm hoping to get some keyboard/organ/sax/bagpipes sounds out of
it. Has anyone out there got any tips?

Cheers

Mi
