Re: [Harp-L] Michalek Blues

Chris Michalek was a good man and a GREAT harmonica player... OK at first,
we were not friends.. He hated me. BUT BEFORE he passed away we became
friends, he was a great dog trainer, (like me) but more than that he was
probably the best diatonic jazz harmonica player who ever lived... HE ALWAYS
PLAYED IN TUNE. I respected Chris....
I wish that he hadn't passed away... I'd so much like to have "rows" with
him again.. God bless you Chris Michalek... RIP
You were a good man, and an even better friend...

Chris generally played with a very light touch typical of most overbend
players. Most of the action took place in his mouth regarding embouchure,
vibrato, and articulation. While he could play straight blues, I've always
admired his approach to play jazz.

<<If he told you that you sucked. You probably did.>>
Chris never told me that!
We became friends eventually...
I was living in Phoenix AZ a couple of years ago... And I said "Chris you

HATE my harp playing" He replied... "No John, you are a great harp
player."
PRAISE INDEED!
I miss Chris Michalek.
An abrasive personality, but a GOOD MAN
And one of the world's greatest diatonic harmonicists...EVER!
