David,
The late Gary Primich did a wonderful version of Caravan on his CD Travelin' Mood. It swings hard.
I bet you can find an MP3 of it on I-Tunes.
Good Luck!
Harpin' in Colorado,

Subject: [Harp-L] Help with a cut of Caravan
Hi Folks
A student of mine wants to learn Caravan, the Ellington tune. It will be his second tune on his first chromatic, a Hohner 64c, after 3 years of diatonic study he's branching out to playing a slide chromatic. Another example of the erosion of the Chromatic / Diatonic divide.
The best cut of this that I've heard was by either the Minivitch Harmonica Rascals or I'm thinking that it may have been the Brazilian Harmonica Orchestra. Does any of you know where I can get an Mpg3 of either of these, for purely educational purposes. Though I feel sure that my student would be willing to pay what ever the going itunes per track rate is.
I'm not trying to avoid copyright payment, though copyright restrictions are lifted in the UK for educational purposes.
I just want my student to hear this tune done justice. The more I think about it the more inclined I am to thinking it's the Brazilian Harmonica Orchestra's cut that I have in mind.
I have transcribed the melody line for my student, it's just that I want him to hear the feel that they give it, so tight and edgy. Any help here would be much appreciated - yours David
