Victory!!!

I knew it wasn't rocket science.  I'm pleased to report that neither  
is it neurosurgery.

The best part was discovering that the note would still sound with   
*no wind saver at all*!  That took the pressure off, and I proceeded  
fearlessly after that.  My axe sounds much better, now.
