My favorite #1 mic is an Astatic T-3 with an original 1939 crystal element. Mic #2 is an Astatic Biscuit with the early, thicker crystal element found in the oldest Biscuits. Both of these elements were made by Brush. Mic #3 is a Shure Brown Bullet with a black label CR element. I don't use a VC with any of them. An in-line or foot operated on-off switch serves me best.
