Hi Betsy: 

  Jerry is from Eunice and if he's still living there, he's not in the path
of the water from the Morganza spillway and should not be in any danger.
Eunice is north of I-10 and is about 60 miles NNE of the Atchafalaya basin.
The water should fill the basin and the marshes and swamps South East of the
basin and flow toward the Gulf of Mexico sparing both Baton Rouge and New
Orleans... if diverting the water prevents the remaining water from
breeching the levees protecting the cities.

Has anyone heard about whether opening the spillway in Louisiana is going to
affect my cajun friend and harp extraordinaire Jerry Devillier.  Jerry, if
you're out there, let us hear from you.  I'm away from home for an extended
period so don't have Jerry's e-mail address.  Hope this flooding doesn't
affect Jerry!
