Midwayusa.com has a variety of range bags to choose from.  I will give  
them a serious look.  Thank you for that suggestion!

Came in late on this but a range bag is ideal for carrying gear.  
Plenty of room inside and several pockets sized for mics etc. Online  
at U.S.A.Midway about thirty bucks and extremely sturdy.
