Re: [Harp-L] Volume Control Modification

I contacted several people on the list Greg H. being one of them and also the
Shure company itself, who to my surprise got right back to me.with an answer.
To convert my Sure Spher O Dyne 533sa from a on/off switch to a VP the 100k
works great. I had to cut the mini VP knob shaft down in height to get it into
the mic shaft and.drilling the round counter sink in a square opening of the
on/off switch isn't easy either. I'm sure the Sonotone will be a challenge. the
other two look to have slide off covers much easier bet still not much room in
there.

Next time I'm just going to Greg's site http://www.blowsmeaway.com/ and buy the
adapter pre made its really a no brain-er unless you enjoy doing the work
yourself.

Sure its a little money but I had my fun with the first one. Its tricky work
with out the proper tools, and finding a VP to fit in the shaft is a real
headache.
Good luck.
Todd

Subject: [Harp-L] Volume Control Modification

I have a couple of mics that I want to modify by adding Volume Controls....
Sonotone CM-10 Ceramic, Shure 575S Dynamic, and Shure 275S Ceramic.

#1... What rating of volume control should I use?
#2... Is this an audio taper or a linear taper?
#3... What suppliers handle volume controls small enough to fit into these
mics?

Thanks,
George
