Re: [Harp-L] Light stimulation on stage
My band uses a Chauvet 4-Bar system. THE UP SIDE: They're LED so they don't
heat up, don't use much electricity and the bulbs never burn out. It also
comes with the stand and a simple 3 button footswitch to control everything.
The light they give off is soft...not like a spotlight. I guess that's why
they call them wash lights. They cost $400.00. THE DOWN SIDE: The power cord
is too short. The sensitivity knob on the back that syncs the music with the
lights is too sensitive. Too low, they don't blink at all. Too high, you've
turned the place into a disco. But you don't have to use the knob. You can
just set it to blink on and off randomly. BOTTOM LINE: If I lost these
lights I would definately buy another set. They give a nice looking "glow"
to the stage. Yes, I do think it enhances the performance a little.

Yeah they can look good but its amazing how much heat they can throw
out..if you are standing in front of one on the usually too small stage in
a hot bar, well you can fry.

Hello,
Have any of you had good results using lights to enhance a performance?
I know a artist who brings a colored floodlight in a common aluminum
reflector and places it in front or back of the performers.
Very low tech, lightweight and effective.
A lot of the pubs and clubs do not offer prepared stage, so a little light
on the topic is what I like.
Regards (and Smokey Joe L. cracks me up all the time),
Brian
