Re: Cost for lessons
As noted by others, prices vary by individuals - or organizations. I do all my teaching at the Old Town School of Folk Music, where private lessons run $216 for eight weeks of
30 minute lessons. But I always recommend classes when they're available. (At the School, that's $160 for 8 weeks of 80 minute classes; half that for seniors). You learn from the class experience, watching and listening to the other students as they play, and making mental corrections while awaiting your turn. Beyond that, it takes off the pressure and becomes a social experience. Finally, classes can also alert you to jamming opportunities, the best way to develop your skills. The Old Town School has free open jams for all instruments (not limited to students) on Wednesdays, 12-2 and Thursdays from 7 to 10 pm. I hold a monthly (all instrument) blues jam at the School 6:30 to 8:30 on the First Friday of every month. Elsewhere, see folkjam.org, a good resource.

I am sorry, I have forgotten the player's name who
was appearing
at Byrd's Auto Parts on Wednesday in Nashville,
TN. I drove over
to the address in the yellow pages for Byrd's
Automotive but could
not find it. I understand he is to appear again

Ken, that's awesome!
A lot of us should be able to listen to it live. I know I will be. Because of the way low-frequency radio waves travel in the atmosphere in the evening and at night, people all over the eastern U.S. and probably the Plains and Midwest as well, should be able to hear it, by tuning their Am radios to 650 Hz. Also, I think WSM is on Sirius Satellite Radio and the Opry is on the Nashville! channel on XM... at least I think that's right.
Here in W.Va., I can pick up WSM very clearly, but I've suped up my AM set quite a bit by hooking an outdoor longwire up to the internal ferrite antenna (a fun project my 8-year-old son and I did), but I've listed to WSM many times on regular AM sets.

I have ordered some CX12 reeds from harponline and will be attaching them to a custom made reedplate, so there are no old riviets to re-use.

There used to be "Clear Channel" radio stations in the USA. Not to be
mistaken for the Corporate radio-station ownership of the same name. I'd
listen to KDK in Pittsburgh, NBC in N.Y., CBS in Chicago, and yes WSM on 650
Kilohertz (650Hz is in the human voice range of frequencies) from the seat
of my dad's 1960 Caddillac with the Wonderbar Radio from down here in South
Florida. Lots of other stations too. Unfortunately, there are no really
clear channels these days and alot of Latin American interference.
A long wire (2 or more full wavelengths) at 650Khz is approximately 3 miles
long.

My impression from one (1) of them -- probably a poor induction base, but still -- was not entirely happy:
A bit uncertain in the tuning, a very flat 5D; but worse, it blew out in a considerably shorter time than an S 20.
I think the cost was roughly the same and that settled it for me.

You can buy rivets from Hohner USA - the phone number is buried somewhere on their website.
You can also get screws for attaching reeds from harponline. They use the direct screw-down method as opposed to the screw post-and-nut method. The former is simpler but the latter allows for better long term wear if a reed is replaced (or removed and reinstalled) multiple times.
