Re: [Harp-L] FW: Hohner response to Pat Powers post
Andy,
Since you said in your response that Hohner values their customers opinions
I thought it would be a good time to come out of the shadows of Harp-l and
give my you mine.
I have playing Sp-20's for ever, having switched from MB's back in the day.
IMHO the current production is better then ever. I am an amateur player
but manage to gig a couple of times a month and attend one of my local blues
jams almost weekly. While the Sp-20 is my favorite I do have a couple of
Seydels and a few Lee Oskars in (minor and major keys) in my bag.
I have seen your Pro packs and have one suggestion that everyone may or may
not agree with. The inclusion of the G harp with the C and D makes no
sense to me. I haven't blown a reed on a G in years and usually play them till
they wear out. Adding an F or an A to the C and D would make more sense to
me and being the suspicious type that I am, feel that Hohner has made a
business decision that purposely kept that cost saving away from me. So how
about switching out that G or even having 2 or 3 different Pro Packs
available?
Recently I took a couple of old Lee Oskars I had out of the graveyard and
bought new reed plates. A five minute cleaning and I had two essentially
new harps for $18.99. I see no reason why Hohner can't do the same for SP-20
players, do you? I am guessing the Sp-20 and MB are Hohner's largest
selling diatonic's so how about it, or is this another business decision?
Whatever happens I believe Hohner has responded to the issues of the past
and has improved the quality of the SP-20. That alone will enable me, for
the time being, to remain loyal to the brand and I hope that a few more
favorable business decisions in the future are coming my way.
