[Harp-L] Re: pedal for drive effect

I've gotten some good advice on what pedal I should get to add the drive effect
to my modified Princeton Reverb. Through this group, Peter Madcat Ruth
recommended the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver Pedal, and I've gotten a couple of
seconds on that. However, Bill Barrett (okay, I do get a kick out of
name-dropping, lol) suggested the Greer Ghetto Stomp, which is a bit more
expensive. Anyone have anything to say about these two pedals, or recommend
anything that they think is better?

FWIW, here is what I do. I use a vocal microphone into the PA for the songs
that sound better w/o a driven sound. I set my amp/pedals to get the driven
sound I want. If necessary, I vary the extent of the drive through the amp with
playing style or with volume controls (typically as you bring levelsup, you are
also driving harder). (I do also use an AFB+ for feedback control and it can
add a certain amount of drive dependinng on how you set it up.) This is just my
2 cents. I did notice that you didn't get a lot of onlist response to your
question -- it may because most folks who have tried have not found an
especially better solution than the one I describe. (Of course if "name" folks
are recommending pedals, that's not something to be ignored.)
