Re: [Harp-L] Purchasing in Canada
I dunno if this helps or not, or what getting harps this way encompasses, cause, honestly, I have never ordered harps while standing on Canadian soil. Seydel's Canada distributor is Rupert Oysler, who is based in the U.S. Canada orders are done via the Seydel Website. Shipping to Canada, I believe is $10, but that's U.S. dollars. From how the Website looks to me, looks like you pay in U.S. dollars, which paypal converts or whatever.
Perhaps the great Rupert Oysler could shed further light on the issue.
I ship to Canada, too, for about the same price. Of course, if you find somebody actually up there, you could probably get it quicker.

Brian -
It might help to find out who the Canadian distributor is for the brand(s) you play. Years ago, when I lived in Vancouver and Hohner was the only real choice, the distributor was Hough & Kohler in Ontario - I have no idea whether they're still around.
Regional or national distributors may be able to point you to retailers who carry a more complete inventory (and do mail order within Canada), or may be able to help you facilitate timely ordering through local stores. In talking with the distributor, you should emphasize your difficulties in finding what you need locally, as their first approach will be to steer you to a local retailer. But don't let them fob you off. Point out that your professional needs are not being met and that they are losing sales unless they can help you. Go up the chain of command if whoever answers the phone can't or won't help you.
Hope this helps.

Hi my name is Brian McDonald. I live in Vancouver BC. I manage to do some
repair work and maintenance on my harps, however when I need a new one (
especially a Bb or Eb), I can go through a  dozen stores and still not find
what Iâm looking for. In recent years, I have been doing most of my
purchasing from Coast to Coast Music in Baltimore. I have found them very
easy to deal with, efficient and prompt in all my dealings with them,
however UPS has recently raised their minimum shipping rate to a point
where the cost to ship a small item like a harp costs as much or more than
the harp itself. Iâm looking for a place within Canada where I can order
products? I love Coast to coast, but dealing with the new shipping rates and
Canada customs and $ exchange rates is getting to be a hassle I can live
without. Can anyone suggest a reliable alternative within Canada?
