I heard Norton play a number of times--I live here in San Francisco, and he 
 appeared on the radio show my wife produces, West Coast Live. He was a 
good man  and a great player, and he is missed already.

I have  just learned that Norton lost his battle with lung cancer,
which had also  spread to his brain, and was complicated by
pneumonia.  He passed away  today at 3pm.

Norton was a great friend, and will be sorely  missed.
