Niko
Are you sure the valves are out of alignment? If you remove the cover, if
they valves are straight and covering the reed slots they will be positioned
ok. It may be that you've simply got a build up of gunk (for want of a
better word) on the valves. When this has happened to me, I've used a
cotton bud soaked in warm water with a little washing up liquid in it to
clean the valves. The other alternative is to replace the valves - if they
are out of alignment that would be the best thing to do anyway I guess. I
got my replacement valves from Harponline and use nail varnish to fix them
in place. A strong colour is best I think (I use black) as that way it is
easy to see the nail varnish and scrape off off the old stuff when you
replace a valve again in the future.
I hope that helps, I'm quite new to chromatic maintainance, although I've
been maintaining my diatonics for a while but there will be others here who
will have much more experience than me andf may be able to advice you better
than I have.
Bill
