Re: [Harp-L] Which harp mic is most feedback resistant?

Hi Dane
I saw this and did a google search, I saw one at Dolphin music for £122 sterling, so they seem quite reasonably priced. I'd like to know what it is you like about them. The shape looked great for harmonica. I assume they are low impedence and clean, what's it like at bottom end and would they work well and enable an even coverage when cupped behind a chrom? All the reviews I looked at raved about them as a studio drum mike for toms and snares. There's not the volume control obviously that you have with the Fireball V but assuming you could use it in conjnction with an inline volume control like Greg Heumann sells that could be overcome very easily.

I've done some gigs and play at lot at a jazz jam session in a very narrow bar where space and amp placement can be a real problem. Feedback can often be a real nightmare especially if as often happpens, the brass players increase their volume and the drummers and every else comes up to meet them, which can result in my either being too quiet or plagued by feedback. I used to have one of the cheaper Shures, a PG57 and feedback wasn't so much as a problem with that and then I manage to yank the wires out of the back - packing up before you've had your complimentary pint and a shot of Tequila might be advisable, I guess! - and went out and bought an SM58 which isn't quite so resistant.

Thanks

Bill

I use JT 30 shells with shure elements. The c.r. Elements are definitely more feedback resistant than the c.m.s

What is your experience with feedback and harp microphones? Which is the
most feedback resistant?

Is the Shure SM57 more feedback resistant than a typical bullet mic, in
general?

What characterisitcs make a bullet microphone more or less prone to
feedback?
