Brothers & Sisters of Impedance, John and others,
    I've asked several of the respondents and other folk regarding 
impedance. It would seem that this aspect of microphones and harmonica 
playing is highly specialized. Why not go with a Holmes Commander and be 
done with it?

tune in, drop out". It would be nice if the same could apply here. Plug in, 
turn up, wail on should be as easy as differentiating a stretch limo from a 
VW.
    There are so few diagrams of comparative values, for example - one 
group of harp players says that this amp or that amp is the best one. (Were 
that any of us can afford this one or that one, eh?) Would a diagram hurt? 
Start at the harp and go to the output, like - player/Green Bullet/ 
cable/processor/effect/cable/amp. Richard Hunter says a lot about low cost 
up to more powerful systems at his site - http://www.hunterharp.com/
    What about those of us whom are less than electronic design engineers 
and want to get out and wail and we're in debt with gear that doesn't break 
the band's "sound barrier"? Anybody ever heard of the KISS principle? (As 
in - Keep It Simple Stupid.)
    John Watts alludes to ..."talking to others who know more about this 
than I do..." We all advance when we all understand it better. Why frustrate 
every generation anew? (Thanks John!)
    Mr. Hunter has given us something to think about. How about "paying it 
forward" and making it a bit easier on the rest of us. A picture paints a 
thousand words. (There's probably a book in there somewhere...) Thanks.

I beg to differ with you.  I have a 545 wired for hi-z and a 545  wired 
lo-z I use with an external transformer.  The one with the  internal 
transformer produces a higher gain signal, and from talking  to others who 
know more about this than I do, this is not something  that is peculiar to 
the 545s I happen to own.  Estimates vary as to  whether the internal 
transformer produces 15 or 20% more gain than an  external transformer, 
but, in my experience, a dual impedance mic  wired for hi-z is definitely 
hotter than the same mic wired lo-z and  played through an external 
transformer, even though the mic element  is the same.
