RE: [Harp-L] Deliberate Practice

I was watching TV recently, can't remember the name of the show but it's an interview thing on PBS. Anyway, James Watson was the guest...he is a Noble Prize winner, won for being the co-discoverer of the DNA molecule [think I have that right]...anyway, in his interview he revealed that his IQ was "only" 120.

So what IS talent? I liked what Richard said about the ability to listen though perhaps it's not the ability but the WILLINGNESS to listen?

I would submit that James Watson has a great gift...a great talent. But in the most intellectual of disciplines, our best method of measuring that talent obviously didn't measure his talent very well.

My Dad used to tell me that "Genius is as genius does." Makes sense.
