Abner.. most of us who  have been playing for quite a while have gradually accumulated the knowledge that you are seeking here. Because we didn't have such a resource as Harp-L.
What I would recommend is that you buy a good harp and just work on your playing. All the rest will follow in short order.
The following are  harps that I consider very good out of the box for a beginner:
Hohner SP20 and Golden Melody.
Bushman Delta Frost
Seydel Blues Session

There are, of course, others that will also work well.
