You can hear Sugar Blue take an extended solo on the extended dance-club version of the original Stones record (remebem 12-inch singles?) It's in second position, and Sugar does what most second position players do in the same situation - bends draw 3 and uses Draw 7 sparingly.

Another problem in 2d position is that one absolutely MUST avoid 7D (major
third). No bands i play with ever play any tune just like the record, so
there's inevitably more improv and more soloing, and it's not always
easy for me to assiduously avoid that note wandering around on the high end at a
decent tempo.
