Re: [Harp-L] Cadillac Records (slight return)

Thanx for the info Martin...
but I respectfully disagree....F*&^ ! the Hip Hoppers and the horse they
rode to town on...
Little Walter Jacobs was a GREAT American Genius, yes, he had a bad temper
but was NEVER charged with MURDER.....I'm obviously still upset,-)))
YES, it's ONLY a MOVIE and HOLLYWOOD gets another FREE PASS....BUT, if they
decided to Make MUDDY WATERS the Murderer.....GUITAR-L would have started a
Revolution and RIGHTLY so....and I'm sure Clapton would have had a public
staement to make too....but we are ONLY Harmonica Players......
We need to speak ot against the Hip Hop-RAP mentality that ADORES and puts
violence on a pedestal. We are sending a terrible message to our
youth....amen
I'm not tryin' to stir this up again....just stating my personal opinion
about a musician that greatly inspired my career and just because he is now
DEAD, doesn't mean we shouldn't defend his legacy to the masses they SO what
to educate about AMERICAN BLUES

Yesterday at the library I was browsing through the latest issue of Blues
Revue and there was an article on the Cadillac Records film, with it´s
creative use of history re: Little Walter. (I have yet to see the film; not
shown over here.)
The journalist asks the producer and writer/director directly about the need
to ascribe a fictitious murder to an historical character and the producer,
som bozo called Sofia Sondervan, says, predictably (I don´t remember it
verbatim) something along the lines that you gotta spice up for the kids
today.
Meaning that the hip hoppers need at least one murder in order to stand a
feature film, and LW seemed like a good fall guy.
I´m not surprised, nor particularly upset -- it´s Hollywood --, just taking
note of the sheer cynicism.
Also in this Blues R no. reviews of Carlos D J and Rishell & Raines CD:s.
Cheers,
Martin
