RE: [Harp-L] Jazz-Blues Fusion
Hi Bill,
Thanks for your message. Sebastien Charlier will surely perform many
concerts with his band to promote his new album, but I don't have any info
about it.
If I see something, I'll post it on Harp-L.
I know that he plans to put an English version of his site online soon, as
I've asked him the question through email for another Harp-Ler who asked me.
His concert list is also present on his myspace:
www.myspace.com/sebcharlier
Still a resource in French, but easy to understand.
Concerning French harp players, I don't know if there is a specific
phenomenon. There are few very good harp players and a lot of less
interesting ones, I guess like in all countries. But it's true that JJ
Milteau have had a great influence in France, followed by Howard Levy, which
surely have participated in a particular motivation from the new generation.
" I get turned on by things I haven't heard before, so as long as it's done
with taste, every innovation is good with me."
I couldn't agree more !!
Cheers,
Jerome

Thanks for posting that Jerome - yes Sebastien Charlier's amazing! I think
getting to see him live next year might be on my new year resolutions list.
Do you know of a good place to see him or does he have a residency anywhere?
France is so well off for great harp players, it would be good if there was
a way of finding out more about the french harp scene for those of us whose
french isn't very good - you can go to Paris and be back in time for
breakfast from here.

with taste, every innovation is good with me.
Cheers
Bill
