My day:
Up at 4 am, read email and download podcast till 4:30, exercise till 5, make
breakfast and lunch and hit shower at 5:20, eat, take meds, oh, yeah, get
dressed, grab briefcase, leave for work at 6:10-6:20. Drive 37 minutes to
work, two hour lunch, leave work at 5ish, if not running late, 45 minute
trip home (traffic), eat at 6, bed by 8 (if I start getting ready by 7:30
and if I'm lucky and don't have any church elders meetings, chiropractic
appointments, yada, yada, yada). My point? I'm not whining, I love my job,
love my home and would drive more if I moved down here where my job is, BUT.
Many are the times I've just gotten bored driving the same route in the dark
while I'm tired. I can't count the times God has blessed me by keeping me
alive when I got drowsy driving and heard the rumble bars on the side of the
road. I started playing harp about 4 months ago, and started playing in the
car while driving to/from work two months ago and have not struggled with
keeping awake once. Yes, my head tells me that I should give driving my
full attention, that I am foolish not to. My reality is that I just cannot
find enough hours in the day to get a full night's sleep (this might be TMI,
but I cannot sleep 8 hours straight, and never have been able to, I need
9-10 hours of sleep time to get 8 hours of actual sleep in) SO, I'm actually
finding that just "tootling" away at stuff I already know (I agree with not
trying to learn something new) may just keep me safer, though if I saw
someone doing it I'd think otherwise.
