Cutting from both sides isn't necessary, is expensive, and the 2 dies won't line up when getting into the 'thousandths' category. The easier solution, and one that can be one at home is MY method.

1. Take a reed plate that is already thick enough. Buff off the exit side of the plate.

2. Then slurry hone the entry side of the plate to take off the round shoulders caused when the die enters the (relatively soft) metal.

The sharper the corners of the reed slot AND reed..the better.
