Re: [Harp-L] How to i change 2nd position riffs into fourth position

Michael Murray asked about transposing 2nd position to 4th position:
Michael,
An A harp has the note E in hole number 2 draw. The G harp has the
note E in hole 3 draw double bend (bent two notes lower) If your
entire lick was E, you could play it on either harp by playing the E
note in the hole appropriate to the harp.

Most licks include more than just one note. It becomes a matter of
knowing where the notes are on the two harps and playing that.

Here is a great starting lick called the minor penatonic scale:
A harp:
2 draw, 3 draw single bend, 4 blow, 4 draw, 5 draw, 6 blow

G harp:
3 draw double bend, 4 blow, 4 draw, 5 blow, 6 blow, 6 draw

The notes are the same:
E, G, A, B, D, E

goes for anyone on the list about any harp subject.
